Nearly one year on and the Spartans have grown to 45 members.
We are a group of like minded people who enjoy a casual beasting of the trails, specifically Delamere Forest and surrounding areas - we don't run on r**ds unless we have to.
Delamere Spartans is in its infancy, but now a reality. With your support, we will become a household name!
Don't be put off by our Spartan bravado. We aim to unite people of varying ability. As the pace will naturally vary we will regroup as necessary to make sure nobody gets left behind.
It's the members who make any club what it is, so don't be shy and join us FOR THE SAKE OF SPARTA!
Our aim is to meet up once a week for an evening run. After the run we like to have a beer and a chat.
Our events are not races. They're a means of getting people together and hopefully all improving our running and having a good time.
We are in it for the fun, friendship and fitness (in that order). We are non-exclusive, anyone is welcome and we're definitely not as hardcore as our name suggests!
Pace will vary. We spread out a bit but regroup as necessary and with a little co-operation, no-one gets left behind.
Plan is that occasionally we will convince people who know more about this kind of thing than we do to come and give advice.
Egos should be left at home but we will obviously have some cool t-shirts very soon.
If you would like to join us, get in touch.
Persian cowards will be dealt with!
The manifesto is ever-changing...

Q: Why do people like to run run run without any specific place to go? It's weird and it hurts.
A: Running releases endorphins, trails inject a little adrenaline and as a combo they relieve stress and make you smile. Fresh air is good for the soul. Meeting people is nice. Soon, 'nice' naturally becomes 'necessity' and so the cycle is complete.
Q: What does it cost
A: Try us for free, then join for just £30 for the whole year.
Q: Will I be fast / fit enough?
A: We recommend that you can currently run 4-5 hilly miles to be able to get round our shorter loop. You don't need to be super fast or super fit but be prepared for the odd hill. Bear in mind that trails are a little harder than roads but the views and fresh air more than make up for it.
